#Slide – 80 days of summer – Gent

I’m so proud that Bending The Frame will be presenting a slide compilation evening at the 80 Days of Summer photo festival in Gent.

With a full program of slides by Sohrab Hura, Pieter ten Hoopen, Sébastien van Malleghem and Anton Coene we will close off the festival with a bang.

Some of Belgians finest musicians like Rudy Trouvé, Aldo Stuyf, Elko Blijweert, Hannes d’Hoine, Sjoerd Bruil, and more will be playing live and/or have created a unique soundscape with the pieces created by the photographers.
Photography will literally become performance and will blow your minds away.

Sohrab Hura’s slide was the  highlight at the Peckham 24 festival during the London Photo Fair for the folks of the British Journal of Photography, Sean O’Hagan of the Guardian as well as the director of the Photographers Gallery. No more reference needed right? 🙂

Don’t miss this incredible, exciting and enthralling night where photography meets music. Welcome!

Happy 2017

‘A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song’
Maya Angelou

The past year yet again has been filled with wonderful people, some personal challenges, beautiful travel and inspiring moments.

Working and writing on my first book ‘In praise of shadows’ has been/ and is amazing in every way imaginable.
I hope to share the final result and many more other stories, with an equal amount of passion as always, in 2017.

For now, wishing you a happy and love filled new year.

#Slide compilation

schermafbeelding-2016-11-22-om-14-40-00

I’m very proud to present a small compilation video of some of the #Slides we produced during our 3 evenings on the slideshow for Bending The Frame

For these evenings we asked photographers to think about their work in relation to the format of the slideshow and matched them up with musicians who made a soundscape for this work and who mostly played live during the evenings. The results were phenomenal. We presented a new way of experiencing photography.

We are now hoping to take some of these slides on the road. Stay tuned!

In this compilation you see footage of the following slides:

* Sohrab Hura & Hannes d’Hoines and Sjoerd Bruil
* Pieter Ten Hoopen & Tip Toe Topic aka Elko Blijweert, Saar van de Leest and Joris
Caluwaerts
* Anton Coene & Rudy Trouvé with special guests

Slide #3

More then welcome to Bending The Frame‘s Slide #3 event, 1st of July at Het Bos in Antwerp. Great line-up with photographers Sohrab Hura and Anton Coene, and musicians Rudy Trouvé, Hannes d’Hoine and Sjoerd Bruil. And afterwords DJ Kid will be making you move your feet on the dance floor.

Slide #1

I’m very proud to present Slide #1.

With some friends, I’ve founded Bending The Frame vzw, a new non profit organization that will search for new ways and create different platforms to bring great photography out into the world.

For Slide #1, we’ve asked photographers Sébastien Van Malleghem and Eva Wollenberg to make a slideshow presentation of their work and think about the concept slideshow. We match them up with the amazing musicians Aldo Struyf (Creature with the atom Brain, Mark Lanegan Band), Gregory Frateur (Dez Mona) and Roel van Camp (Dez Mona, DAAU) who either created new music especially for the evening or will preform a live soundtrack along the images. A unique experience.

Afterwords and in between performances DJ Faster PussyKat will spin records and make everyone pur on the dance floor

Hope to see you all there in helping me launch this new venture.

RIP BB King

I took this photo back in 1998 in the lobby of the Carlton hotel in Cannes during the filmfestival where BB was attending to help promote the remake of the Blues brothers movie. Hardly anybody recognized him, which made it possible for me to photograph him while he glanced by. Rest in peace BB!
