Art’s birthday

In 1963 Fluxus artist Robert Filliou proclaimed his own birthday as the official birthday of art. This statement, made in a Paris bar, was followed by many Art’s Birthday celebrations all over the world.

Yesterday I went to Art’s birthday party in the Museum for modern Art MUHKA here in Antwerp.

The wonderful writer Chris van Camp had the honor of opening the party with a ‘State of the Art’ speech and as always was sharp, funny and to the point with her observations on how our society is evolving and what the position of Art is in this day in age.
